European Championship Qualifier vs France

An excellent trip spoiled only by 90 minutes of keich from the team. The two Chancellors, Sweetcorn, The Wallace, Pizza Hun and Scooter Boy were joined by Angel Wallace and Gosia Scooter for this one. Lots of hats were purchased but no hose, and much red wine was consumed – along with some mighty fine black beer and rather pungent sulphur soup.

One game left in the campaign, we were always going to need something against Italy and that’s not changed. Bring it on!

Here is the photo album for this trip:

European Championship Qualifier vs France

Boaby made it three wins out of three in his first away trip (following his attendance at the home wins over Georgia and Lithuania) and Gosia also had her first experience of a full international game. There was almost a full KELTA roll-call for this one, with the exception of Sweetcorn who was a late call-off due to political shenanigans. The Junior Gilbys brought along their half-Scottish half-French mate Matt (il n’est pas Le Messiah, il est un tres mechant garcon!).Oh, and we won. Again. Get it up ye Trezeguet! I’d love to see Domenech try to pin that one on the ball boys.

Tippy Tappy Jimmy Krankie!

A disappointing result in Bari last night – a 2-0 defeat away from home against the world champions (official and unofficial now :-( ) is no disgrace, but the manner in which we lost the two goals let us down. Davie Weir and Stephen McManus had both played superbly against Georgia, and although neither had a nightmare against the Italians they really struggled to cope with Luca Toni. He drifted away from McManus to get a free header for the first goal, and from Weir to get a free header for the second goal.

Funniest moment of the evening was Il Duce’s reaction when Shaun Maloney came off the bench and his first two touches were backheels – even in a crowded pub I could hear him mutter “tippy tappy Jimmy Krankie!” – surely a contender for the quiffed one’s new catchphrase!

No match report yet from Sweetcorn and the Iron Chancellor, although we did hear pre-match that they had the superb hospitality of Bari to thank for even getting to the stadium. Surely a tale to tell there. We also heard that the drinks ban was successfully breached by our two intrepid footsoldiers!

European Championship Qualifier vs Italy

The Iron Chancellor and Sweetcorn were our only witnesses as Scotland attempted to unify the official and unofficial world titles – having held the title of unofficial world champions for all of four days. The Wallace, Pizza Hun and Scooter Boy watched the match just down the road from “The Fucking Bastard”, and I believe The Plastic Chancellor watched it from the safety of his wanking chariot.

I didn’t go. Can’t remember who did. A filthy boy from Dundee took Pizza Hun’s place though!

Scotland U19s vs Spain U19s

Mr and Mrs Scooter made a wee day trip from Warsaw to Pobiedziska (near Poznan) for the group match against Spain. Despite the 4-0 pumping it was a great day out, largely because of the mullet on one of Spain’s unused subs.

The final World Cup Qualifier away to Slovenia

The Iron Chancellor, The Plastic Chancellor, Scooter Boy, The Wallace, Pizza Hun and Sweetcorn all in attendance in various proportions. The Iron Chancellor and Scooter Boy gave it the full 4 day treatment including a day trip to Zagreb for some martial arts; Sweetcorn restricted his participation to matchday only (but made up in quality what he missed out in quantity); while The Plastic Chancellor, The Wallace and Pizza Hun walked out halfway through a piss-up in a brewery to fly home!

God bless Pivovarna Union.

Two related events to raise funds for the Raith Rovers takeover bid – first up were the Plastic Chancellor, the Iron Chancellor, The Wallace, Wee Davey and one of the other London Rovers, Greig Codd, on a sponsored walking tour of all the Premiership grounds in London.

Several weeks later Scooter Boy, the Plastic Chancellor (again) and Fannybaws embarked on a 36 hour tour of Scotland, visiting every current senior football ground and as many sites of former grounds as they could find.
